House of Hope

A warm place for everyoneEen warme plek voor iedereen

People who are struggling to cope with life often tend to get left behind and excluded. The House of Hope in Rotterdam-Zuid (south of the river Maas) helps to overcome this situation by simply being there for one another and standing together. For as long as necessary. No- one is excluded.

Many people from different cultural backgrounds can be found at House of Hope. This is where local residents help each other move forwards. Collectively, they create a pleasant neighbourhood in which all participate. There are 250 active volunteers. Some of these people have themselves found support at House of Hope in the past.

Living Room

Many residents visit the area’s informal living rooms. Here, all are welcome. The three living rooms are located in what are known as the focus neighbourhoods, where there is an above-average incidence of poverty, loneliness, trauma or addiction. They attract around 50,000 visits a year. House of Hope also organises a range of community activities, benefiting some 3,200 residents in the area. It also provides social support to around 1,000 struggling households.

Support over several years

Dioraphte has supported House of Hope for several years continuously. This safe, stable and cheerful space can only exist thanks to long-term support. Particularly at a time in which organisation costs are rising and are hard to finance.
