Stift Festival

Intensive chamber music curriculum for young talent

Each year, the Stift Festival not only brings together top musicians who create chamber music, it also provides plenty of space for young talent. All of this is set in the enchantingly beautiful countryside of Twente.

The nine-day festival features big names from the Netherlands and abroad. During the festival, twenty talented young musicians – led by top violinist Daniel Rowland – are given the opportunity to work with these renowned musicians – who teach master classes and each oversee a trio, quartet, or sextet as a sort of ‘playing mentor’.

Talent selection

Eventually, ten so-called Stift Young Artists will be selected from amongst the young talents These will be given a place in the Festival line up. They are all musicians under 30 who are close to graduating from the conservatory, or who are taking their first career steps. They will continue to be linked to the festival throughout the year, until the next edition.

Preparation for a multifaceted life

The mentorship not only allows young artists to discover their unique ‘sound’. But it is also important to prepare them for the multifaceted life of the modern musician. This allows them to step out of their comfort zone gradually and develop a more open and proactive attitude. To this end, the Stift Festival provides an intense learning environment.
